About Our Non-Profit Organization

StudyCycle is a student-run academic trading platform where students can donate, receive, or trade educational materials using a fair, points-based system. All items are reviewed to ensure safety, quality, and usefulness.

1. Item Approval Rules

Quality Standards

  • Items must be clean, gently used, and functional
  • No missing pages, stains, mold, broken parts, or unsafe electronics
  • Must directly support studying (school, test prep, self-study)
  • No offensive content, clothing, toys, food, décor, or expired/damaged materials
  • Items not meeting criteria must be revised/removed
2. What You Can Donate

Accepted Items

Books/Materials

School textbooks, AP/IB/SAT/ACT books, partial workbooks, organized notes, summaries, binders, flashcards, curriculum novels, nonfiction learning books

Supplies (sets only)

Pens/pencils/markers, sticky notes, index cards, notebooks, binders, folders, dividers, sheet protectors, envelopes, organizers, pencil cases

Electronics (working + wiped)

Scientific/graphing calculators, laptops/Chromebooks/tablets/e-readers, headphones, keyboards, mice, chargers, USBs

Tools

Whiteboards, study lamps, timers, planners, reference sheets

Art

Sketchbooks, unused canvases, art sets, safe paints/brushes, coloring pencils

STEM

Geometry sets, microscopes (safe), measuring tools, robotics kits, Arduino/Raspberry Pi components

Accessories

Backpacks, laptop sleeves, calculator cases, bookstands

College Prep

Résumé/essay guides, test prep materials

Not allowed

Clothing, food, toys, decorations, personal journals/photos, broken items, copyrighted PDFs, teacher-made content without permission

3. Digital Material Rules

File Guidelines

Allowed

Original notes, summaries, slides, worksheets, school-approved past tests, Creative Commons resources (with credit)

Not allowed

Textbook/PDF scans, paid-platform content (Quizlet+, Chegg, CourseHero), teacher content without permission, copyrighted files you do not own

File types

pdf, docx, pptx, jpg, png, zip, txt, md

Important: Files must be clearly named, accurate, and contain no personal data

4. Point System

Earn and Redeem Points

Items earn points when approved. Point values are based on item category and value:

1-2 points

Small stationery, simple notes

3-6 points

Binders, backpacks, basic calculators

7-9 points

Prep books, detailed binders, desk tools

10-12 points

Graphing calculators, high-value textbooks, tech

12+ points

Laptops, tablets, premium bundles

Using Points

Points are deducted when redeeming items and can be saved. Violations may remove points.

5. Logistics

How It Works

  1. Create an account/Add your email and contact
  2. Submit an item (photos + description)
  3. Moderators approve/reject
  4. Earn points, redeem items
  5. Pick up or drop off items at designated StudyCycle locations
